MWBL COVID-19 Update – 2 June 2021

No doubt everyone is aware of the continued lockdown announcement the Victorian Government has just made.

We anticipate this has struck home hard and every for a lot of people in our extended community.  It also puts certainty around what we had believed would happen.

Baseball in the MWBL for Winter 2021 now continues in an “On-Hold” status.  We cannot participate in any sort of baseball activity while the lockdown continues.

The Pennant Committee is underway considering options for what this lockdown means for our clubs and competition.  We are not limiting the options we consider, but obviously will be dictated to by the easing of restrictions announcements that will inevitably come from the Victorian Government.

We will be setting up a meeting with Club Delegates to consider the options put forward next week, hopefully following more announcements from the State Government.

In addition to this, we are working with Baseball Victoria and all Winter Associations to determine the course of the State Winter Championships.  The Senior State Winter Championships will be cancelled, with the advise of the Victorian Government stopping regional travel.  The Junior State Winter Championships will be reviewed based around information as we receive it.

Please stay safe, and take care of each other.  Take some time to reach out to people who may need your assistance.  We are all baseballers.
