Welcome to 2021

On behalf of the 2021 MWBL Board, I would like to welcome you to the 2021 Winter Baseball Season.

We will be putting 2020 behind us, as everyone should. It was one hell of a year. But now, its important we look to the new season, and make it one to remember!

2021 is shaping up to be a great year! We are coming out of a successful, albeit shortened summer season, and a lot of interest already in the 2021 season.

Clubs are busy preparing, with Come and Try days and preseaon trainings starting up – make sure you contact your club to let them know you will be there!

For anyone who is looking to play in 2021 there will be, as you may expect, some requirements for the season. Whilst Baseball Victoria and the MWBL are trying to make this as straight forward as possible, your club and you will need to ensure you are following COVID safe protocols.

This includes the Register to Train and Register to Play services, through the Baseball Victoria systems – you need to ensure you have registered for COVID tracing before you take the field. Its a small step to keeping everyone safe. As you’ve heard numerous times – if you have even the mildest of symptoms – please get tested and self isolate until the results.

For the 2021 Season, we want to concentrate on retaining the players we’ve had in the past. Recruitment of new players will always remain a vitally important part of the MWBL, and something we will be focusing on into the future, but coming out of the COVID-19 situation, it will be so important to ensure everyone who has loved and enjoyed playing the game feels welcome back, and continues to play and develop in the sport we all love.

If you know anyone who has played, reach out to them, and see if we can get them involved!

As a final word, if anyone needs help or support from the MWBL, the clubs, or your friends, we are all there to help you. Reach out. Do not hesitate. There are support services available to you, be it through Headspace, Lifeline, or any other means, your friends, you family and your baseball community cares, and wants you to feel safe in the knowledge that we are there for you.

Baseball is life, and baseball is back in 2021!
