Roadrunners showing late season form

Research post an impressive win against Forest Hill

By SALLY HEPPLESTON

RESEARCH have ended Forest Hill’s amazing run of eight games without a loss with a solid 10-6 win in round 12 of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League A Grade competition at Glenauburn Park on Saturday.

Research coach Tom Dicker said it was fantastic to see Forest Hill doing so well but that it was a vital game for his club to win. Research are in third position while Forest Hill are just behind them in fourth.

“They seem to be going really well. They hit the ball hard and flat and run the bases well,” Dicker said.

Dicker said Josh Davies was in great form with the bat, hitting two home runs.

“Things are coming together for us at the right time of the season. Everyone did their bit today,” Dicker said.

Research face Greenhills Montmorency next week.

Forest Hill coach Adam Blackley said it was an up and down game. He also said Josh Davies for Research was strong with the bat.

Blackley said it had been a while since they’d had a loss, but that it probably came at a good time of the season.

“We actually haven’t lost since the last time we played them, but it has made us even hungrier again now. We’ve got Essendon next week so we hope to get our confidence up again,” he said.

In other A grade results, Greenhills Montmorency pumped Doncaster 8-0, Ringwood had the better of Essendon 3-0, Greensborough were too good for Watsonia 7-2 and Heathmont got over the top of North Balwyn 6-2.
