Heathmont put up a win against Greensborough in Round 11

TOP team Heathmont made light work of a struggling Greensborough side in round 11 of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League A grade competition on Saturday.

Looking comfortable and in control on their home ground, Heathmont won 7-0.

“The boys all played really well today,” Heathmont coach Matt Gourlay said

“Our pitching was again outstanding from Matty Wilson and Sam Gibbons. They both dominated,” he said.

“Dylan Trevorah hit a home run and Ben Leslie hit well also.

“Cooper Goodman in short stop also made a lot of great plays. He’s probably our youngest kid in the team and he’s continuing to improve with every week.

“We are certainly travelling well at the moment and happy with where we’re at,” Gourlay said.

Heathmont travel to take on North Balwyn next week.

Greensborough coach Tim Sullivan said a positive to take away from the loss was they played better than the last time they matched up against the league leaders.

“I thought we played better than the last time we played them. But we made a few mistakes and they are too good of a team to do that against. “We gave them too many opportunities. Their pitchers also threw well, too.

“It was a tough game but as I said last week if we keep giving that sort of energy, I think we can give Watsonia a good run for their money next week,” Sullivan said
