GREENHILLS Montmorency Baseball Club have clawed their way back in to the top four by knocking off top team North Balwyn 9-4 in round 14 of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League.
Played at Malcolm Blair Reserve in almost spring like conditions, GMBC were helped over the line by pitcher Evan Brisentine who threw the complete game, only giving up the four runs.
GMBC coach Scott Dawes said there were plenty of other contributors on the day.
“Offensively we had Mitch Ellis, Ryan Booth and Stuart Cox. It was a great team effort today against a top two team after our loss last week,” Dawes said.
“We are looking forward to taking on Heathmont next week.”
North Balwyn coach Phil Dale said it wasn’t a great day for his team.
“We gave up some runs in the middle of the game. Their pitcher through a solid game and their shortstop Mitch Ellis had some key hits,” Dale said.
North Balwyn will be looking to regroup and refocus next week when they take on Essendon at home.
In other A grade results, Essendon beat Watsonia, Greensborough got the better of Ringwood and Heathmont got up in a thriller over Knox.
