TWO home runs by Nathon Aron secured an 8-4 win for second placed North Balwyn in round eight of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League A Grade competition.
Played on Saturday at Elder Street Reserve with the threat of rain all afternoon, North Balwyn were quick off the mark to score five runs in the first inning.
Greensborough were then able to fight their way back in to the game to get the score to 5-4 before North Balwyn scored three more runs to finish off the game strongly with a win.
Greensborough coach Jarrod Hodges said Aron was the difference on the day with his two home runs.
“We got off to a slow start. We are sitting at three wins and five losses and have a bit of work to do if we want to get back in the top four.”
North Balwyn coach Phil Dale said Jordy Young and Andy Hayes were also solid with the bat while Mitch Kennedy was excellent in relief pitching duties.
He said the club was excited about new lights at their home ground, which would be ready for their next home game.
Greensborugh take on top side Heathmont next week and North Balwyn host Ringwood, who are in third position.
In other A Grade results, Greenhills Montmorency were too good for Essendon, Heathmont had a narrow win over Forest Hill, Research defeated Knox and Ringwood got the better of Watsonia.
