A STELLAR pitching effort from Lachlan Parsonage has given Doncaster a 3-0 win against Diamond Creek at Campbell St Reserve on Saturday in round 12 of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League season.

Doncaster coach Brendan McDonald said Parsonage pitched eight innings of “shut out ball”, in his best game for the season.

“We didn’t give them much of a chance,” McDonald said.

“Everyone came to play today, we really didn’t give them a sniff. It was a very solid effort.”

He said the cold conditions didn’t really hamper the game.

Doncaster take on top side Waverley next week, who McDonald said had been setting the pace this season.

“We drew with them last time and it will be good to test ourselves against the best.”

The win put Doncaster in fourth place, behind Westgarth and La Trobe, who both had wins on the weekend.

Diamond Creek coach Leigh Scanlon said his team just “couldn’t get their hits together”.

“Our young kids continue to improve each week. We are lacking in the hitting department and it has been the same story for the last few years,” he said.

Diamond Creek, who now sit in sixth position, will host Monash next week, and Scanlon said he was hoping the game would give his side a chance to “turn things around”.
