NORTH Balwyn outclassed Greenhills and Montmorency Baseball Club on Saturday 10-3 in round 7 of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League A grade competition.
Played at Malcolm Blair Reserve, the Stingers were able to shut the big hitting GMBC down with the strong pitching line up of Jon Kennedy, Tyler Dale and Jeremy Young.
“We were able to keep them off balance and down to only three runs – they were all really good today,” North Balwyn assistant coach Neil Burke said.
Offensively, he said Alex Hondo, Mitch Kennedy and Nathan Aaron were all impressive with their bats.
“We’re quite happy with the way we’re travelling this season. We’re second place just behind Research,” Burke said.
Next week will be a top of the table clash when the two sides meet for the first time in the season.
“We’re really looking forward to the match to see where we’re at,” Burke said.
GMBC coach Chris Hodkinson praised the Stingers for how well they hit the ball.
“We’re certainly not playing to our full potential at the moment,” Hodkinson said.
“We were just outplayed today. We need to improve.”
